Finding Community In Our Community

You found your house...you unpacked. You met a few neighbors and you’re ready to ‘find your tribe’. Well, the best place to start is online…Nextdoor.com registration will let you observe your neighborhood silliness in exchange for asking for good gardeners, buy a second hand kid thingy that your kid will outgrow in twenty days, or find a local nanny that needs a new family situation. Beyond this tie in to your immediate neighborhood, other great groups exist on Facebook, most notably ‘Lamorinda Families’. To apply for Lamorinda Families you must change your physical location/hometown to one of the Lamorinda communities prior to request. Once you are approved, this is what you can expect to find:

Walnut Creek Area Neighbors and Newcomers - female focused but not family focused. Open to those who may find themselves moving here before, after, or if kids aren’t part of the plan.

Lamorinda Working Moms - because, face it, there are a lot of dual income families when you’re trying to live in the Bay Area and sometimes you just need to ask another mama in your shoes her opinion or find community with others whose *struggle is real.*

Lamorinda Dads - because, face it, the moms get a lotta support and love. It’s Dad’s turn!

Lamorinda Peloton - if you have one, join.

Lamorinda Moms - An OFFLINE group that allows moms to connect through social and community events, play dates and socializing opportunities for moms of ‘younger’ kids (demographic is ‘under 7’). Alumni participation is also encouraged. This is a membership based club...and an excellent way to get to know ‘same age kids’ moms (especially if they’re not yet in school!).

Mamahood - Though it’s expanding throughout the Bay, The Mamahood has its roots in the East Bay and is extremely powerful here. Loads of sub-groups to find your people and even an entrepreneur support club that you can join if your move includes shifting your business along with your life!
