Neighborhoods
Cruising open houses in any new area can be frustrating when you don’t know what a particular neighborhood is called, where it’s borders are or what the nickname pertains to. Lamorinda is no different - there are small enclaves that are referred to by name and here are the basics:
Lafayette
Downtown, The Trails & St. Mary’s Estates
Burton Valley & Lafayette Valley Estates
Reliez Valley & Springhill Area
Happy Valley & Hidden Valley
Saranap
Orinda
Sleepy Hollow
El Toyonal & Claremont
Charles Hill & Country Club
Glorietta & Overhill
Wilder Ranch
Lost Valley & Del Rey
Ivy Drive
Moraga
Campolindo & Carroll Ranch
Rheem Valley
Donald & Corliss
St. Mary’s & Sanders Ranch
Camino Pablo
Realistically, these neighborhoods are loosely tied to schools and (sometimes) geography. The truth of the matter is that its just local lingo to identify separate areas. Complicating your search based on neighborhood name is probably not necessary. If you feel drawn to any of the local schools, it’s easier to check the school district website - and please refer to the High School Intra-District Transfers link under ‘Schools & Pools’.
