The easiest way to put in a bit of pampering without taking a chunk out of your schedule is always the pedicure stop. Manicures optional, toes mandatory (especially in summer). Instead of trial and error, the town favorites are consistently as follows:
Located just behind Whole Foods in Lafayette, Lamorinda Nails is a great jumping off point because of it’s convenient location. The staff is friendly and talkative and the parking is (sorta) easy. While they will do light waxing, they won’t do chrome powder (not sure why) so don’t ask! This is a place for high quality but basic mani/pedi. There are no thrills, no frills and no fads. The chairs are always full and they are closed Tuesday. Grab a juice from WF and sit down with a magazine for a bit of ‘me’ time.
Mon Mon (Lafayette)
Also located in the shopping center behind WF is Mon Mon. Great reviews on nails, consistently referred by word of mouth and a bit wider selection of services. Mon Mon does microblading, eyelash extensions, lash tinting, the works. People who go here swear by Monica!
Olivia Nail Bar (Moraga)
One of Lamorinda’s newer nail salons and tucked up in a Moraga shopping mall, Olivia Nails was started by an exec-turned-business owner and prides itself on ‘natural’ and ‘non-toxic’ products for manicure and pedicure services. Party packages are available up to 10 with wine and ‘princess parties’ available for the kid-set. Bonus: stop by Moraga Produce and fill up your fruits ‘n veggies drawers on your way home.
Dipping Nails (Orinda)
Some ladies just like powder. And, if you like powder, this is your place. These ladies will glitter you, chrome you, decorate you and show you a good time while doing it. If you’re one for fun and fancy nails, you’ll be driving to downtown Orinda to Dipping Nails!
DTN Nails (Lafayette)
Quick and basic, excellent service, excellent reviews and on the more affordable side.
